Way back in 1959, ten ladies, who were the founding members of the Oaklands Association, Inc. gave Oaklands Mansion it’s name for the many beautiful oak trees that graced the historic grounds. We still don’t know what the original builders referred to this beautiful antebellum home as, but in its second life it was called Oak Manor by the Darrow family.
Today, we are the Oaklands Historic House Museum and we can offer you a way to support our vital mission of preservation and education. Simply remember Oaklands Association, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization that needs your support whenever you shop on AmazonSmile!
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. How does AmazonSmile work?
When first visiting AmazonSmile, customers are prompted to select a charitable organization from almost one million eligible organizations. In order to browse or shop at AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organization. We ask that you choose Oaklands Association, Inc. to further assist us in raising funds so that we may continue our mission of education and preservation. For eligible purchases at AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will then donate 0.5% of the purchase price to Oaklands Association, Inc.
It is so simple to use and there is no cost to charitable organizations or to AmazonSmile customers. The shopping experience is identical to Amazon.com with the added benefit that the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate to Oaklands Association, Inc. whenselected by customers and best of all Amazon does not even charge any administrative fees or take any deduction from the donation amount!
The AmazonSmile Foundation is a 501(c)(3) private foundation created by Amazon to administer the AmazonSmile program. All donation amounts generated by the AmazonSmile program are remitted to the AmazonSmile Foundation. In turn, the AmazonSmile Foundation donates those amounts to the charitable organizations, such as Oaklands Association, Inc. when selected by their customers. Amazon pays all expenses of the AmazonSmile Foundation and they are not deducted from the donation amounts generated by purchases on AmazonSmile.
