Oaklands Association, Inc. will host its annual membership meeting and reception on Monday, November 4, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. After a brief business meeting and election of the 2020 Oaklands Association Board of Trustee members, attendees will enjoy a wine and cheese reception.
This casual event is free for current Association members. Non-members are encouraged to attend and are able to join at the door. Annual dues are only $30.00 for individuals and $50.00 for couples. Membership to Oaklands includes free guided tours of the mansion and a 10% discount in the museum gift shop.
Following the business meeting, a reception will feature the historic gun from “Jack Hinson’s One Man War.” Judge Ben Hall McFarlin, owner of the esteemed firearm, will be available for a time of question and answer with guests.
Dr. Gina Pisut, a specialist in designing and creating corsets, will exhibit her creations in a pop-up exhibit called “Corsets: the Ties that Bind.” Dr. Pisut is the Program Coordinator for the Textiles, Merchandising, and Design program within the Human Sciences Department at Middle Tennessee State University.
Also on special exhibition will be a souvenir table made from lumber removed from the White House during the Truman renovation. The table was recently donated to Oaklands by the Rutherford County Historical Society.
